What is NoVA HVAC Index?

NoVA HVAC Index is a free, publicly accessible directory and ranking site for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) contractors operating in Northern Virginia — covering cities including Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria, Reston, Herndon, Ashburn, Leesburg, McLean, and more.

We rank businesses using a transparent, data-driven Local Visibility Score (0–100) that combines Google ratings, review counts, and website performance. Every number on the site is derived from publicly available data with no manual overrides or paid placements.

Who is this for?

  • →Homeowners looking for a quick, unbiased snapshot of which HVAC companies in their area have the strongest online presence and customer satisfaction track record.
  • →HVAC business owners who want to understand how their online visibility compares to competitors and what specific improvements would raise their score.

How is data collected?

All data is pulled from two Google APIs:

  • •Google Places API — business names, addresses, phone numbers, websites, star ratings, and review counts. This is the same data shown on Google Maps.
  • •Google PageSpeed Insights API — mobile performance scores for each business's website. A slow website can hurt a business's Google ranking and customer experience.

Data is refreshed periodically. Scores are recomputed automatically after each refresh. See the Methodology page for the full scoring formula.

Independence & editorial policy

NoVA HVAC Index is independently operated and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any HVAC company, trade association, or home services platform.

Rankings are determined entirely by the scoring algorithm. We do not accept payment, advertising deals, or any other compensation in exchange for ranking adjustments. Display ads on the site are served by Google AdSense and have no influence on rankings.

Is my business listed incorrectly?

Business information (name, address, phone, website, rating) comes directly from Google Business Profile. If your listing has incorrect data, update it in Google Business Profile and our next data refresh will pick it up automatically.
